Terms of References for Internship position under the Project: Making Differences in the Lives of Woman through using Democratic Governance Strategies

 

 

 

Duration: 03-06 months

 

Duty Station: BNWLA Head Office and Filed Offices Located at the different parts of the country

 

Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA) shall recruit intern for the development of fresh Graduates and Post Graduates to enhance their capacities comply with their professional performances

 

 

I –     BACKGROUND

 

Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA) is one of the pioneer organizations working towards promoting human rights in Bangladesh. The Association was formed in 1979 through committed efforts of some of the prominent woman lawyers in Bangladesh. Since it’s inception in 1979, the association has been striving for setting up a framework to provide integrated legal aid and rehabilitation services to vulnerable, disadvantaged and victim women and children of violence in Bangladesh. The association is dedicated to establishing their rightful legal status and mainstreaming them in the society. Over the period of time, BNWLA has adopted various strategies and implemented various activities. The organization helped create new horizon in addressing some of the issues like violence against women and children, including sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking, acid violence, reformation of various laws relating to the rights of women and children.

 

Universities and colleges refer their students who are interested to learn the different women issues to BNWLA for the completion of their internship. As a developing country Bangladesh is committed to meet the challenges for achieving the MDG and to achieve the goal of Millennium Development BNWLA assessed the need of a skilled professional group and with a view to develop the professional skills of the fresh Graduates and Post Graduates BNWLA has launched the internship program so that they can perform their best to establish the rightful legal status of women and mainstreaming them in the society.

To increase the skills of fresh Graduates and Post Graduates

To promote the activities of BNWLA

To introduce professionalism to the fresh Graduates and Post Graduates

To attract the young lawyers to be the member of BNWLA

To seek the prospective professionals for BNWLA

V –    COMPETENCIES

 

Education:

 

Fresh university Graduates or Post Graduates

 

Core Competencies:

 

§  Knowledge and understanding of the activities of BNWLA

§  Excellent communication skills, especially English language writing and editing.

§  Computer Literacy

 

Behavioral Competencies:

 

§  Highly organized and self-motivated

§  Creativity, flexibility and ability to work within deadlines

§  Maturity, initiative, tact and high sense of responsibility

§  Demonstrated ability to work in a team

 

Language Proficiency:

 

Fluency in written and spoken English.

VI –   SUPERVISION

 

§  Direct supervision of the concerned department’s Head

 

 

VII –  DURATION & DUTY STATION

 

§  The assignment is for 3- 6 months

 

Reporting:

 

Report to the Director of concerned Department/Cell

 

 

Evaluation:

 

Director of the concerned department will evaluate the report

 

 

Allowances:

 

Volunteer service

 

VIII – OTHER

 

§ Results /observations of this internship cannot be used for research
